Swindon Borough Council has confirmed that drivers at country parks including Lydiard Park and Coate Water are still liable for parking charges and enforcement action, even when the ticket machines in question are covered in plastic bags and visibly out of action. The issue was raised at a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, October 8, by Councillor Kate Tomlinson, cabinet member for children and education, who said the bagging of machines has become a recurring feature of Easter, the summer holidays, and now autumn half term, and that she feared the council was losing thousands of pounds as a result.
