Swindon Borough Council has confirmed that the Coate Water Splash Park will close for the season after this Sunday, 4 October, bringing to an end a summer in which it was repeatedly declared, by families across the town, to be the best thing going. It will reopen in spring once the weather warms up again. This weekend it is open from 11am to 6pm both days, which is being treated by some households as a bank holiday, a leaving do and the last episode of a favourite programme all at once.
